Lester Alvin Meyer was born April 15, 1929, to Charles and Mabel (Moody) Meyer near Cavour, South Dakota.  He grew up in the Cavour area and graduated from Cavour High School.  He proudly served in Korea after high school and returned to the Huron area where he met his loving partner in life, Delores Tschetter.  They married August 28, 1953, in Huron and lived on the Meyer family farm south of Cavour all of their married life, raising crops, cattle and pigs over the years. Together they raised four boys.

He and Delores enjoyed all things family as well as hosting friends and family at their Lake Byron cabin.  They loved "rummaging" in their retirement years.  Les served on boards of Federal Land Bank and Cavour Elevator and was very involved in churches of Mount Olivet and First United Methodist in Huron.

Lester is survived by four sons, Doug (Sue) Meyer of Iroquois, Paul (Lynette) Meyer of Orient, Tim (Paula) Meyer of Iroquois and Jon (Lisa) Meyer of Cavour; 14 grandchildren, Erin (Cody) Raveling of Marshall, Minnesota, Shelby (Brodee) Landmark of Iroquois, Nikki Clement of Grand Island, Nebraska, Jackie (Chuck) Schneider of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jessica (Randy) Powell of Amarillo, Texas, Adam Meyer and Danny Meyer, both of Denver, Colorado, Jason (Jill) Meyer of Cavour, Rebecca (Ben) Wipf of Huron, David (Brittney) Meyer of Volga, Jordan (Jese) Meyer of Cavour, Laven Meyer of Oakdale, California, Tyler (fiancé, Nikki Fechner) Meyer and McKenzie Meyer, all of Huron; as well as a special friend, Mary Kay Tschetter and her family. Lester was blessed with 33 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores in 2015; his parents; and an infant brother, Alvin.
