Leo Sevesind, age 84, of Huron, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service was at 11 AM Saturday, April 30th at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery with military honors by the Huron Veterans Council.
Leo was born July 17, 1931, at Bison, South Dakota to Charles and Grace (Chenoweth) Sevesind. He attended school at Pine River, Minnesota. Leo entered the US Army and served in Korea from 1952 to 1954.
On February 3, 1951, he married Wanda Johnson at Ivanhoe, Minnesota. Leo worked at Armour's from 1949 to 1969. He also owned and operated Leo's Bike Shop along with his wife, from 1970 to 1992.
Upon retirement he had done "handyman work" and kept a beautiful yard. He was a over fifty-year member of the First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was always busy with his many hobbies, one of which was restoring his 1969 Ford Ranger pickup. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, TV and morning coffee at Clark gas station and afternoon coffee at McDonalds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda on October 8, 2010; infant twins; his son-in-law, Chester Pike; three brothers, Earl, Dale and Carl; and two sisters, Maybelle and Joyce.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his three children, Dan Sevesind of Sioux Falls, Dee Weber of Huron and Jean Pike of Watertown; one granddaughter, Sarah Pike of Watertown; one brother, Wilbur (Dorothy) Sevesind of Kalispell, Montana; three sisters-in-law, Shirley (Arlie) Burnett of Huron, Audrey Bitner of Sioux City, Iowa, and Madeline Johnson of Huron; one brother-in-law, Robert (Mary Ellen) Johnson of De Smet; and many nieces and nephews.
