Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Presuhn, age 88, of Huron, died Friday, September 4, 2015, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 8th at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Holland, officiating. Burial wwas in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Huron Veterans Council.
Lawrence "Larry" Edward Presuhn was born February 24, 1927, to Charles Frederick and Ella Emilie (Miller) Presuhn at Virgil, South Dakota. Larry attended his first eight grades at Presuhn School in the Kellogg Township; he then graduated from Virgil High School in 1945. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps at Ft. Snelling. In 1950, Larry graduated from Huron College with degrees in Business Administration and Psychology.
On January 29, 1950, Larry married Betty Power at the Methodist Parsonage in Huron.
Larry was employed as a salesman for Sears & Roebuck for 35 years.
Although Larry was active in the community, he always made it a priority to make time for his family. Larry and Betty served as co-president of the Washington Elementary PTA. They also enjoyed being members of the Mr. and Mrs. Dance Club. Larry was a Huron Parks and Recreation board member, and the secretary for the Jaycees. He was a member of the Golden "K" Kiwanis and served as president. Larry was a member of the American Legion. Larry enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Elsie Clouser, Esther Groepper, and Mae Miller; and three brothers, Harold, Charles, and Fred Presuhn.
Grateful for having shared in Larry's life are his wife of 65 years, Betty Presuhn; three children, David (Sharyl) Presuhn of Auburn, Washington, Gary (Marilee) Presuhn of Burke, Virginia, and Scott (Lana) Presuhn of Killeen, Texas; five grandchildren, Janelle (Matt) Spencer, Heather (Bert) Sturner, Amy Presuhn, Matt Presuhn, and Troy Presuhn; one great-grandson, Hunter Presuhn Spencer; and one brother, Elmer (Betty) of Virgil.
