LaVaun M. Jones, age 88, of Huron, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020, at her home.

As per her wishes, she will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.

LaVaun M. Stockman was born July 26, 1931, to Willum and Hazel (Ewing) Stockman at Ree Heights. She grew up in the Ree Heights area and graduated from high school there.

She married Lyle D. Jones. They had three children, and later divorced.

LaVaun worked as a housekeeper at the Hickory House Inn. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir at the First Congregational Church. Most recently, she had been attending church at Mount Calvary Lutheran. She also liked to sew and go for drives in the country.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband; and her daughter-in-law, Star Jones.

She is survived by three children, Michael Jones of Springfield, Missouri, Merele Jones of Huron and Susan (Duane) Collings of Everett, Washington; and two grandchildren, Richard Jones and Tonya Collings.
