Larry Harper, age 73, of Alpena, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Per his request, he will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27th at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Larry Scott Harper was born May 27, 1944 to Merrell and Genevieve (Lagerman) Harper at Waterloo, Iowa.
In 1987, Larry moved from Butte, Montana to Huron to live closer to his sister. Shortly after Larry moved to Huron, he met Ruby (Harmdierks) Tobin. On June 25, 1988, Larry and Ruby married at Huron.
Larry was a semi-truck driver for over 40 years until his retirement in 2001.
Over the years, Larry enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching movies. He was also a Vikings fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Ruby Harper of Alpena; his son, Stacy Harper of Nebraska; his daughter, Amanda Harper of Rochester, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Ashton Harper, Antonio Harper, Noemi Harper, Ossy Harper and Nayeli Soto Harper; four brothers, Chester Harper of Evansdale, Iowa, David Harper of St. Cloud Minnesota, Billy Harper of Waterloo, Iowa, and Jimmy Harper of Traer, Iowa; three sisters, Carolyn Kientoff of Des Moines, Iowa, Kitty Anderson of Plainview, Nebraska and Susan McBride of Waterloo, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
