Kevin Ray Bowersox, age 63, of Wolsey, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at Avantara-Huron.

His memorial service was held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 27, at the First Presbyterian Church of Wolsey. Military honors were conducted by the Hershman-Gordon American Legion Post #59 of Wolsey, SD at the church. His service was live-streamed through our website .

Visitation was held one hour prior to his memorial service at the church.

Kevin Bowersox was born July 2, 1959, along with his twin sister (older by three minutes), Karen, at Aitkin, Minnesota. Later, at the age of 8, they were adopted and raised by Don and Donna Mae (Lindblad) Bowersox of Wolsey. He grew up in Wolsey and graduated from Wolsey High School in 1978.

Kevin joined the South Dakota National Guard in the middle of his junior year of high school. He continued to serve in the guards a few years after graduation. After his time serving in the guards, Kevin held various jobs in the oil business, at Dakota Pork, with area farms, at Vern's Manufacturing, and his last and most favorite job, the Beadle County Humane Society.

He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. Kevin has loved animals all his life and had dedicated time and resources to animals in need. Because of Kevin's love for animals and the time working at the Beadle County Humane Society, he has left a generous memorial to help support their mission and efforts.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Mike Sandbeck; sisters, Pollyanna, Evelyn, and Betty Lou; nephew, Lee Bowersox; and great nephew, Jaeden Lee Joyce.

He is survived by his twin sister, Karen (Tim) Schrepel; brothers, Richard and Brent and Terry Bowersox; niece, Kayla Bertsch; nephews, Zack Joyce and Easton Bertsch; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
