Obituary

Kenneth Alan Brown, age 72, of Huron, was welcomed into heaven on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Avera McKennan ICU in Sioux Falls.

A memorial service for Kenneth was held at 4:00 PM, Monday, October 12th, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Military honors were conducted by the Huron Veterans Council.

Kenneth's memorial service was live-streamed through the Kuhler Funeral Home Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers the family would like greenery/plants, or memorials be made to The Salvation Army and the Food Bank here in Huron.

Kenneth was born January 28, 1948, to Kenneth and Virginia (Sabin) Brown, in Everett, Washington. Kenneth graduated from Monroe High School. Kenneth met the love of his life, Ruth Shoopman, in high school. After high school Kenneth worked for Boeing and was later drafted into the Army. He served in the Vietnam War and was severely injured while protecting and serving our country. When Kenneth returned home, he married Ruth on February 22, 1969 in Everett Washington. They then decided to move to Colorado where Kenneth then attended college at the University of Colorado Denver. He majored in Business and achieved a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1979, he moved his family to Wessington Springs, SD, and in 1999 moved to Huron, SD.

Kenneth was a full time stay at home dad and Paa.  He spent time helping the   neighboring farmers and served as a substitute teacher. Kenneth was the kind of man that was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Kenneth served as American Legion commander in Wessington Springs, and was also a member of the VFW. He later joined the American Legion in Virgil, SD. He enjoyed fishing (and fishing stories), raising his kids and grandkids, and being a rock connoisseur. Kenneth was most famously known for being everyone's friend and was someone you could count on.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Tamera Brown.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Ruth; children, David Brown(Tammy Morast), Angela Brown, Nathan Brown, and Daniel Brown; one sister, Kathy King; and one brother, Truman Brown; his five grandchildren, Robert Brown, Kyleen Brown, Zachari(Trinity Miller) Brown, Alexis Brown and Xander Brown; four great grandchildren, Aubree Brown, Lincoln and Sawyer Finch, and Ryatt Brown.
