Kay N. Zwanziger, age 85, of Huron, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Huron Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer's dementia.

Her memorial service was held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 20, at Faith Alive Church. Burial will be held at a later date in the South Dakota Veteran's Cemetery at Sioux Falls. Her service was live-streamed.

Kay was the daughter of Alfred and Ruth Christensen born October 26, 1937.  She attended Huron High School and then graduated with her registered nursing degree from St. John's School of Nursing in 1958.  She began her career at St. John's Hospital, then moved to Tschetter Hohm Clinic where she spent over 30 years caring for many local patients.

Kay enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.  She loved reading books including mystery novels, bowling, solving puzzles, playing golf and her card club.  Kay could always be found walking our many Huron streets. She emailed and talked to her sister, Karen every chance she had!

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Kay is survived by her husband, Larry, who she was married to for 64 years; her oldest son, Jeff (Cecile) Zwanziger of Huron, SD, Jon (Marcia) Zwanziger of Huron, SD and Joel (Becky) Zwanziger of Iowa City, Iowa; her grandchildren, Brittany Zwanziger of Huron, SD, Emily (Jon) Decker of Dell Rapids, SD, Derek (Jordyn) Zwanziger of Huron, SD, Aaron Zwanziger (fiancé, Alyssa Groeneveld) of Ames, IA, Adam (Morgan) Zwanziger of Harrisburg, SD, Brady (Maddie) Zwanziger of Cedar Falls, IA, Luke (girlfriend, Rylee Bond) Zwanziger of Cedar Falls, IA, and Mason (girlfriend, Kearstin Loper) Zwanziger of Little Chute, WI; her great-grandchildren, Austyn, Huntley, Brooks, Lincoln, Colten, Willow, Palmer and Lillie; and  her sister, Karen (Ron) Linnell of Austin, TX and their children, Danny (Christina) and Julie.
