Katherine Aurelia Woodworth, age 91, formerly of Huron, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Ava's House in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service was held at 11 AM Saturday, November 18th, at the American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to the American Lutheran Church, The Salvation Army or Red Cross.
Katherine A. Sampson was born on November 29, 1925, to Knute and Catherine (Cassidy) Sampson. She graduated from Huron High School and attended college at Huron College.
On September 21, 1947, she was married to Roger Woodworth in a double wedding ceremony along with her sister Mary who married Fred at American Lutheran Church in Huron.
Katherine worked at various places during her working career including N.W.P.S., Farm Home Administration, Federal Crop Insurance, and Bureau of Reclamation.
Katherine was involved with the American Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and other areas of the church as well. She was also active in the Doll Club, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, League of Women Voters, P.T.A., Cub Scouts and Brownie leader.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger on April 23, 1994; and five sisters.
Katherine is survived by her children; Roger (Barb) Woodworth of Sioux Falls and Mary (Jon) Cameron of Sioux Falls; 4 grandchildren Sarah (Matt) Brust, Tom (Raleigh) Woodworth, Angela (Paul) Althaus, and Abby (Adam) Goeken; 7 great grandchildren, Peyton, Cole, Cooper, Davis, Adelyn, Eden and baby boy Goeken.
