Justin "Cowboy" Mahrt, age 54, of Huron, died Friday, May 8, 2015. His memorial service was held at 1 PM, Saturday, June 20th, at Memorial Park in Huron.
Justin Tod Mahrt was born April 1, 1961, to William Mahrt and Dalta Fisher at Mitchell, South Dakota. He was later adopted by Irene Ellers. He attended Mitchell High School.
In July of 1983, Justin married Tamera Totton at the race track at Pierre, South Dakota. Two children were born to this union, Joey Totton and Jackson Mahrt. The couple later divorced.
Justin had a passion for his work as a welder and was recently employed at G & T Repair. He also broke horses and had a lawn care service company.
Justin enjoyed the rodeo, landscaping and welding. He had a soft spot in his heart for all animals, especially horses.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Mary Mahrt, and his birth mother, Dalta Fisher.
Survivors include three children, Joey Totton of Mitchell, Jackson Mahrt of Sioux Falls, and Justin (Michelle) Donaldson of Aberdeen; special friend, Jolene Binkerd of Sioux Falls; father and step-mother, William and Margaret Mahrt of Huron; mother and step-father, Irene (Alfred) Ellers of Mitchell; one sister, Robin (Mike) Arbuckle; two step sisters, Angel Hutten of Huron and Trina Bell of Huron; two step brothers, Koby (Donna) Mahrt of Mitchell and Eddie Lewen of Mitchell; one brother-in-law, Keith Bell of Huron; two special nieces, Mary Anne Mahrt of Huron and Rosanna Brown of Rapid City; and four grandchildren.
