June Larsen, age 92, of Huron, died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral service was held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 29th at the First Presbyterian Church in Huron. Burial was in the Wolsey Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church youth funds, camping or Logos, the music/choir memorial fund, or to the Huron Area Senior Center.
June Ellen Gordon was born June 10, 1924, to Forrest and Jessie (Allinson) Gordon at Wolsey, South Dakota. She grew up at Wolsey and graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1942. June enrolled at Aberdeen Normal and earned her teaching degree. She then taught school at Hitchcock and Mitchell and did substitute teaching in Wolsey for many years.
She married Harlow Larsen on August 16, 1946. They lived on the Larsen farm for twenty-two years. They then moved to Wolsey and in 1995 moved to Huron.
June was a member of the Presbyterian Church all her life, first in Wolsey and then in Huron. June was very active in the church, Sunday School, Bible School, women's associations, and choir, as well as serving as the choir director. She was a member of the Wolsey Homemakers, Eastern Star, the Wolsey Senior Center, and P.E.O. Chapter F. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, gardening, and reading as well as spending time with her family.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Kenneth "Ken" and Jo Larsen of East Horsley, Surrey, England, Tony and Judi Larsen of Wolsey, Brenda and Jim Ruedebusch of Huron, Carla and Mike Erk of Hot Springs, South Dakota, and Kurt and Melissa Larsen of Hot Springs, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and their families, Rama and Rick Fuerst and their son, Jeff Nicholson and his son, Kaden Nicholson, Amy and Larry Langbehn and their children, Chelsey, Lane, Lance, and Shelby Langbehn, Jason and Robyn Larsen and their children, Katelyn, Jessica, and Julie, Cheri and Jason Leyendecker and their children, Lindsey and Logan, Keith and Amanda Larsen, Matthew and Jody Ruedebusch and their children, Tyler, Justin, and Cody Ruedebusch, Mitchell and Kris Ruedebusch and their children, Taggert and Jager Ruedebusch, Mikell and Joy Ruedebusch and their children, Haylie, McKenzie, Keegan and Dawson, Amber Villegas and her son, Andrew Villegas, Aaron and Rebecca Varland and their children, Natalie, Maverick and Danner; four step-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
