Judy Rose, age 74, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 2nd at the Riverview United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Judy Mae Finton was born to John and Lillian Finton on August 1, 1944, at Sioux Falls. She grew up and attended Sioux Falls area schools.
On February 20, 1965, Judy married Thomas Rose at Pipestone, Minnesota. Together they owned and operated the Brandon Café at Brandon for many years. Throughout the years the couple moved to Kalispell, Montana, before moving to Spokane, Washington in 1978. In 1985, they moved back to Sioux Falls. They later moved to Emery in 1997, before following their son, John, to Huron in 2001.
Judy enjoyed coaching little league baseball with her husband. She was also active in the foster grandparent program with Thomas, until his death in 2006. For many years, she worked for the Huron Salvation Army. Judy followed professional wrestling and the Minnesota Twins. She made a daily habit of catching up with family and friends on the phone. In all actuality, Judy's life truly revolved around her granddaughters, going to all of their activities despite how it affected her heath at times.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Rose; her sister, Harriet; and her step-daughter, Debbie Rose.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her son, John and his wife, Carrie Rose of Huron; three granddaughters, Tabitha Rose, Isabelle Rose, and Jordyn Rose; her brother, Bernadette Finton; her step-daughter, Lynda Sundberg of Columbia Falls, Montana; her sister-in-law, Hanrietta (Rollie) Floren of Sioux Falls; three brothers-in-law, Billy Rose, Jerry (Betty) Rose, and Richard (Gloria) Rose, all of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
