Obituary

Judy C. Nelson, age 74, of Huron, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 18th at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Burial was in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Judy Carol Koch was born December 15, 1943, to Vernon and Ella (Sass) Koch at Wessington. She grew up on the family farm and attended Whiteside School, near Wessington, through the eighth grade. She continued her education at Wolsey High School, graduating in 1961. Judy then attended Stewarts School of Hair at Aberdeen.
She married Jerald Dilley in March of 1962, they later divorced. On September 14, 1996, Judy married Charles P. Nelson.
She worked as a beautician at the Plains Beauty Salon, and then later LaBoutique Salon, and then Patrice Beauty Salon. From September 1991 to September 2010, Judy worked at Masterforce, which was later named Trussbuilt.
Judy and Charley enjoyed remodeling homes and building a gazebo together. The gazebo provided a wonderful spot for Judy to tend to her plants. Together they also built a barbeque grill, with the help of Duke Staufer and Trussbuilt. They used the grill extensively, doing lots of catering before Charley passed away on February 10, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charley; her ex-husband, Jerald; one son, Jeff; one brother, Ivan; one son-in-law, Mark Taylor; one niece, Debbie Jungemann; two nephews, Brian Dilley and Barry Koch, two brothers-in-law, George Kleinfeld and Marlo Jungemann; and three sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Koch, Marlene Koch and Arlene Koch.
Grateful for having shared in her life are one son, Steve and Jennifer Dilley of Arlington; two step-children, Christopher Nelson and Denise Taylor, both of Independence, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Jared and Carrie Dilley of Clear Lake, Jeromy and Rebecca Long of Pierre, Tyler and Sara Dean of Oldham, Dakotah and Kyle Dean of Mitchell, Blake and Michaela Dilley of Yankton, Zach Dilley of Arlington, Courtney Taylor of Independence, Kansas; Dylan Taylor of Independence, Kansas, Dan Bublitz, Jr. of Huron and Justin Bublitz of Mitchell; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Jungemann of Wolsey and Janette Kleinfeld of Boca Raton, Florida; two brothers, Don Koch of Rapid City and Jerry Koch of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one daughter-in-law, Laurie Dilley and her family of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
