Juanita Lueth, age 97, of Huron, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 17, 2018, at her home. Her life was celebrated with a service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 24th at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Beadle County Humane Society.
Juanita Maria Stam was born to Hiram Austin and Mary Irene (Cox) Stam on July 10, 1920, at Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Huron High School in 1938, and then earned a business degree from the Northwestern College of Commerce.
On April 17, 1941, Juanita married the love of her life, Forrest (Bud) Martin Lueth in Woonsocket. The couple then moved to the Seattle Washington area where she worked for the Federal Government most of her life.Juanita held the honor of being the first female CEO of GSA (Government Services Agency) and oversaw most of the west coast region for the Federal Government.
The couple enjoyed the majority of their life in Auburn, Washington. They loved to spend their weekends camping with their 5th Wheel and their dogs all along the Pacific Coast Highway, collecting sea shells and drift wood. Juanita was an artist in so many ways.Her talents included ceramics, doll making, Chinese watercolor painting.She was a beautiful pianist, a former model, a photographer, chef and master gardener, but above all else, she was an animal lover.
In 2012, Juanita moved back to Huron to be closer to family with the assistance of her niece, Elizabeth Ames Richeson. After Elizabeth's passing her sister, Jill took over as Juanita's primary care giver.
Grateful for having shared in Juanita's life are her three sisters, Darleen June Ames of Huron and her twin sister, Shirleen May King of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Rose Ann Crenshaw of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; two nieces, Jill (Kevin) Minske of Huron and Susan Langham of Jacksonville, North Carolina; four nephews, Michael (Susan) King of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Danny (Christy) King of Wilmington, North Carolina, Martin John Ames of Huron and Tom (Deb) Ames of Huron; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Forrest Martin Lueth on April 11, 1994; and her niece, Elizabeth Ames Richeson on December 30, 2014.
