Joyce N. Peterson, age 76, of Huron, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019, when her daughter, Lorna, came and led her Home, with her three best men at her side. Her funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 27th at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial was at 1:30 PM, Friday in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake, with fellowship to follow at the Lake Gospel Church, Willow Lake.

Joyce Nadine Baumann was born August 5, 1943, to Walter and Buretta (Elwood) Baumann, on the Baumann farm north of Raymond, South Dakota. She grew up there and graduated from Raymond High School in 1961.

On April 21, 1962, Joyce married Larry D. Peterson at Willow Lake. In 1964, they moved their family to Huron where they resided the rest of her life.

Joyce enjoyed her work as a housekeeper for the Huron Clinic for 34 years. She also cleaned for the Tschetter & Hohm Clinic for 2 1/2 years and briefly for SunQuest Village.

Their children were her world. She loved to watch them at all of their activities. As their children became teenagers, she made it her mission to go searching for Lorna, David and Ed, when they were apparently out too late at night. With the addition of grandchildren, Joyce's love expanded and she followed the grandchildren's activities faithfully, always dragging Larry to the extreme temperatures of the frigid hockey rinks, sweltering softball fields and packed cheer and dance arenas.

She loved cooking, fishing, camping, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Joyce always had time for a cup of coffee and a visit.

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon for many years. She was also a member of Eastern Star for a short time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lorna Poncelet; sisters, Joanne and Dick Nuttbrock and Ruby and Tom Gross; brothers, Wayne and Bonnie Baumann and Donald and Sandy Baumann; brother-in-law, Ray Pearson; and nephew, Johnny Pearson.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Larry Peterson of Huron; sons, Dave (Brenda) Peterson of Huron and Sjur "Ed" (Renée) Klaette of Oslo, Norway; son-in-law, Jeff Poncelet of Ramona; sister, Edna Pearson; grandchildren, Carissa (Blake) Hanisch, Jessica (Robert) Charles, Shauna (Spencer) Shoultz, Dirk (Kylee Abraham) Peterson, Dillon Peterson, Marlen Klaette and Marcus (Martine Hermansen) Klaette; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
