Joseph "Joey" Casper, age 34, of Rapid City and formerly of Huron, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. His memorial service was held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 20th at the First Presbyterian Church in Huron. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.
Joey was easy-going, good natured, and quick-witted. He had an infectious laugh and a sly smile. He was fun to be around, and a loyal friend. He enjoyed family vacations at the lake in Minnesota and visits to the Casper farm in Minnesota where he especially loved causing mischief with his brothers.
He was very creative with his art, beadwork and drawings, sharing his gift with others. Joey was also an animal lover. There was never an animal he wouldn't drag home, including a ferret, an Oscar, garter snakes, and an iguana.
As a Casper, of course hockey was his favorite sport and he was an avid Red Wings fan. He loved being a goalie for the Huron All Stars. He enjoyed watching his daughter and nephews play hockey.
Joseph will be missed by his two daughters, Izabel Casper of Huron and Carelynn Casper of Sioux Falls; his parents, Sam and Becky Casper of Huron, his brother, Sam "Cass" (Susan) Casper of Aberdeen and their children, Samuel, Gracen and Mallory; his brother, Matt (Michelle Styer) Casper of Huron, and his children, Ryder, Skyler, Colby, Heath Styer and Janika Styer; his grandmother, Ruth Casper of Brewster, Minnesota; and his special friend, Jessica Rohrich of Rapid City.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Sam Casper and maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ella Mae Sall.
