Joni Nedved, age 70 of Huron, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

Her memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Saturday, October 17, at the Kuhler Funeral Home.

Joni Marie Labrie, the daughter of Dale and Marguerite (Pembroke) Labrie, was born on September 4, 1955, in Huron. Joni grew up in Doland, where she attended school and graduated from Doland High School. Joni also attended Mitchell Technical College and graduated with an Associate’s of Arts Degree in Accounting. Joni lived in Milbank, De Smet and Watertown, before finally settling in Huron.

Joni worked at various locations including Huron Dressed Beef, Dakota Pork, and Wilbrecht before finishing her career in Quality Control at Dakota Provisions.

It was while working at Huron Dressed Beef that Joni met her future husband, Harold “Bill” Nedved, and they were married on November 24, 1996, in Huron. The couple made Huron their home for the next 30 years.

Joni loved to shop and always enjoyed the weekly road trips to Mitchell or Brookings with Bill, to go shopping and get a beverage from Starbucks. The most important people in Joni’s life were her family and she enjoyed every minute of the time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her husband, Bill.

Joni was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Ramona Lerew.

Grateful for having shared in Joni’s life are her husband, Bill of Huron; her two sons, Jesse Karlsen and Brett (Brittni) Karlsen, both of Huron; three grandchildren, Destiny (Peyton) Laird, Bronson Karlsen and Bree Karlsen, all of Huron; three step-children, Charles (Hallie) Nedved, Terry (Tabatha) Nedved and Anne (Patrick) Schwartz; all of Huron; seven step-grandchildren, Kendra, Devon, Allison, Tevin, Anne Marie, Tia and Jarren; one great-grandchild, Bodie DeJean; one sister, Jaclyn (Jerry ) Schley of Stratford; and one brother, Kevin (Julie) Labrie of Huron.
