Joan Scheidegger, age 67, of Huron, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

Her funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Saturday October 10th at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

Joan Lee Licht was born August 26, 1953, to Walter and June (Loats) Licht at Estelline, South Dakota. In 1971, she graduated from Estelline High School. She continued her education at Watertown Business University, where she graduated in 1972.

On September 30, 1972, Joan married Donovan Scheidegger, and they made their home in Huron. To this union, two children were born, Adam and Megan.

Joan worked for the same insurance agency for 44 years, although their ownership changed over the years. First it was Ward Agency, then F & M Insurance, then H & M Insurance, the Community First Insurance, then BW Insurance, and finally HUB Insurance. She retired on December 31, 2018.

When not spending time with her husband and children, Joan also enjoyed reading, playing piano and working crosswords.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1980; her mother in 1992; and one brother, William Licht in 2015.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband of 48 years, Donovan Scheidegger of Huron; their son, Adam Scheidegger of Boston, Massachusetts; and their daughter, Megan Scheidegger and her special friend, Paul Sides of Bridgeport, Nebraska.

She is also survived by her four siblings, Patsy and Wallace Weber of Brandt, Diana and Jim Buchholz of Estelline, Paul and Janet Licht of Sioux Falls and Joyce and Lyle Poppen of Estelline; one sister-in-law, Lisa Licht of Estelline; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
