Janet C. Zavesky, age 74, of Huron, died Friday, March 25, 2016 at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home, where she had worked as an R.N. for many years. Her funeral service was held at 10 AM, Tuesday, March 29th at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Entombment was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Janet was born to Mathias "Butch" Nusse and Marjorie (Shearer) Nusse at Denver, Colorado, on April 9, 1941. She grew up in western Kansas, and attended schools in Jennings and Liberal, Kansas. After graduation from Fort Hays State University in 1963, she taught in their Nurse Education Department. She later worked as an registered nurse at the VA Hospital in Kansas and the Adjustment Training Center in South Dakota. She was actively involved in NAMI and Special Olympics.
On October 6, 1963, Janet was united in marriage to Larry D. Zavesky at the Methodist Church in Jennings, Kansas. They were married 52 years.
Janet was a past president of Rotary and an active member of LWML at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. She often played her guitar for Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She enjoyed her hobby of photography and won ribbons at the State Fair for her photos. She had her own business selling Golden Pride products and won several trips as a top seller. Her favorite activities were family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Larry and her sister, Judy Nusse of Malvern, Arkansas; she is survived by five children, Deb Adams and Drew Haasch of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and Deb's son, Trent Greschke of Brookings, Brian and Sasha Zavesky and their sons, Landon, Will, Jackson and Tyler, all of Sioux Falls, Dale and Bobbi Jo Zavesky and their daughter, Jordyn and son, Aiden, all of Huron, Bruce and Jeanne Zavesky and their son, Maxton, all of Huron, and Don and Liz Zavesky and their children, Issac Mount, Seth Porter, Ian Mount, and Trysten, Reilyn and Adisyn Zavesky, all of Iroquois.
Janet was preceded in death by her father; grandparents;stepfather, Gerald Tacha; and mother; as well as many aunts,uncles, and cousins.
