Janet's funeral was held at 2 pm on Thursday, November 21, at Huron Christian Church with the Reverend Tom Brantner officiating.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Her service was live-streamed.

Visitation was held from 1 to 7 pm at the Kuhler Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 20, with family present from 5 to 7 pm.

Janet Mae Joseph was born on January 31, 1941, at Huron, SD, to Ralph and Grace (Vernon) Joseph of Iroquois, SD.  She attended school in Iroquois, SD, graduating as Salutatorian of her class in 1958.

Janet  then attended Huron College for two years before being united in marriage to Dennis Lee Gross at Iroquois on October 30, 1960.  They made their home in Huron where Janet resided for the remainder of her life.  Janet worked at the Pantry Grocery and at Raven Industries.  She then served as office secretary at the First Baptist Church and next as  volunteer office secretary at First Assembly of God in Huron, where she was a member.

Janet accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was 30 years old. It changed her life and was the guiding influence for the remainder of her life in this world.

As to other interests, car racing was her "sport of choice" and she enthusiastically supported  her husband, Denny, as he raced the #60 race car at the local SD tracks.  When Denny quit racing, she and Denny continued to attend many races. After Denny passed away, she continued to follow the race circuit, attending races and supporting other racecar drivers until Parkinson's disease took it's toll prohibiting her from travelling as before. Janet still continued to follow local races and the NASCAR circuit, and supported the Minnesota Twins baseball team.

Janet loved southern gospel music and was always ready to attend most types of musical concerts.  Her home was always decorated for each season/holiday of the year.  She enjoyed planning and decorating for small group get-togethers and church banquets.  Friends and relatives were always remembered with cards for their special occasions and she enjoyed celebrating with them.  She played cards she hated for years, but she was always up for a game of dominoes, Farkel, or other board games.  Janet was a perfectionist who thought neatness and cleanliness were next to Godliness.  Over the years Janet & Denny treasured the companionship of three special cats:  Smokey, Midnight, and Shadow.

Janet is survived by her sister, Marilyn (Jerry) Korkow of Iroquois; brother- and sister-in-law, Gordon and Mary Gross; sisters-in-law, Lynett Gross, Kaye Gross and Barbara Rosenberger; nephew, JT (Dominique) Korkow of Broadus, Montana; niece, Kimberly (Kirk McNeff) of Casper, Wyoming; nephews-in-law, Rodney (Lori) Gross and Travis (Teresa) Gross; nieces-in-law, Tammy (JR) Himler, Lori (Mike) Wallenstein and Misty (Jeff) Fasching; great-niece, Hannah Korkow of Austin, Texas; great-nephew, Lucas (Tabby) Korkow of Miles City, Montana; several more great-nieces and great-nephews; and special God-daughters, Danielle (Rey) Rathjen Colón of Huron, South Dakota, and Amanda (Terry) Kikilas of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Denny, on November 12, 2012, her parents and grandparents; and an aunt and uncle.
