Jane was born December 23, 1936, to Zack B and Matilda (Waldner) Wipf. She grew up and attended school in the Yale area.
On October 18, 1954, Jane married Dennis Decker at the Huron Mission Church and started their life together in Gary, Indiana while Dennis served in US Army. They moved near Yale where they started their family. Jane cherished raising her 7 children at home until they were of school age then Jane was a cook in the Yale school for many years until they closed. Within the time raising their 7 children, they lived between Mitchell and Sioux Falls, but in Yankton is where the grandkids made most of their childhood memories as the Decker family.
Jane always put her family and children first with a passion for baking and took great pride with her beautiful flower and vegetable garden beds. She will always be thought of as a memorable friend, sister, mother, grandmother and wife. She always welcomed everyone with open arms, a kiss, and a vibrant contagious laugh that would fill the room. Her beautiful smile, storytelling, gift of cooking to her family and loved ones will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her son Douglas Decker, grandson, Braden Erickson; her parents; four sisters, Edna and Christy Hofer, Rita and Eddie Lehman, Adeline and Eli Walter, and Lillian and Marvin Walter; and one brother, Zack and Sherry Wipf.
Grateful for having shared the life with her husband Dennis of Huron; their children, Darla Erickson of Spearfish, Victor Decker of Huron, Danny (Jeri Kay) Decker of Cavour, Babbi (Bill "Ernie") Fox of Iroquois, Todd (Deanna) Decker of Huron and Connie (Garry) Hegdahl of Howard; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose (Gene) Brenner of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
