James Fred Kleinlein, age 77, of Huron, passed away Sunday evening, April 30, 2017, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. At his request, he was cremated and there will be no services.
James Fred Kleinlein was proud to serve in law enforcement for about 16 years as a police officer of Mitchell, Woonsocket and Freeman. He also served as sheriff of Sanborn County. James was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with his family hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed making wooden crafts for his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Officer Luke Kleinlein; sisters, Liz Turley and Louise Ravenburg; and his parents, Walt and Louise Kleinlein.
James was thankful to have shared his life with his wife, Charlene; his sons, Randy Kleinlein, Larry Kleinlein and Steve Kleinlein; his sister, Barbara Duniphan; his brother, Edward Kleinlein; his cherished grandchildren, Kaia Kleinlein, Drake Kleinlein and Katie Kleinlein; as well as his great-grandson, Aidynn James; his sister-in-law, Paula (Terry) Garbe; and mother-in-law, Marlys Roth.
