Jacquelyn F. Owens, age 95, of Iroquois, passed away Thursday. June 12, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society, Howard.

Her Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 24, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.

Burial will be held in the Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.

Her visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, June 23, at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with her family present.

Jacquelyn F. Owens was born October 27, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois to Orville and Myrtle (Babcock) Decker. She grew up in Iowa and received her education in Sioux City, Iowa.

On July 22, 1950, she married Donald P. Owens at South Sioux City, Nebraska. They moved to Huron, and in 1955, moved to Iroquois, where Jackie had continued to reside. She served and participated in the community by working at the Iroquois Highschool for over three decades.

Jackie was a member of the Iroquois American Legion Auxiliary and a Partner in 40 and 8 for 36 years. She served as the Leadership Chairman for South Dakota American Legion Auxiliary 2007-2008. Jackie joined La Boutique des Huit Chapeaux et Quarante Femmes in 1990 and a Partner in Kingsbury County Petit Salon. She was elected and served as Le Chapeau (President) of Kingsbury #13 County Salon. Nationally she served as NW Division Demi Chapeau (Vice-President) in 2005-2006 and NW Division Partnership Chairman in 2013-2014. Jackie was elected to the high office of Le Chapeau for South Dakota Salon #3 in 1997-98, 2002-03, 2005-06, and 2015-16. She faithfully filled all of her duties traveling and attending each Chapeau Days at National Jewish Health in Denver, Co. every April and was a Delegate to National La Marche (Convention) in late summer. Jackie was an advocate for our "Special Children" (Children with respiratory diseases) as well as our Veterans. She was a true leader with a servant's heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don; her brother Gary; and her sister Barbara.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Owens and Elizabeth Boddie; seven sons, Gregory, Douglas, David, Christopher, Patrick, Michael, and Timothy; as well as nine grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandkids.
