Ila Mae  was born on her grandparents' farm near Woonsocket, South Dakota, on September 17, 1932, to William and Irene (Jacobson) Moe. She spent her childhood in Woonsocket and graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1950.

Later that year, on December 2, 1950, Ila married Harry Anderson in Luverne, Minnesota. Together they raised four children: Ilene, Craig, Barbara, and Billie. Family was the cornerstone of Ila's life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose quiet strength and unconditional love shaped generations.

A woman of deep faith, Ila was a longtime member of American Lutheran Church. Her belief in God was unwavering, and her church community remained an important part of her life for many decades.

Throughout her adult life, Ila worked as a banker, most recently at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Huron, South Dakota, where she retired in 1995. She was respected by colleagues and customers alike for her dedication, integrity, and warmth.

Ila had a special love for sewing and found joy and creativity in her craft. She was known for the beautiful, handmade gifts she created for her loved ones, especially the baby blankets she lovingly made for each of her grandchildren. Her sewing was an expression of her care and thoughtfulness— every stitch a quiet act of love. Her favorite color was blue, a fitting reflection of her calm and kind spirit.

Ila is survived by her children, Craig (Karen) Anderson, Barbara (Charles) Hoffman, and Billie (Margo) Anderson; her son-in-law, Kent Cooper; nine grandchildren, Lesley (Donny) Schoenhard, Amanda (Gary) DeJong, Sarah (Jesse) Johnson, Andrew (Paty) Anderson, Amy (Michael) Nelson, Lindsey (Mike) Walters, Jody (Ed) Thacker, Chandelle Anderson, and Mollie (Josh) Zautke; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Wallace and Keith Moe; her beloved daughter, Ilene Anderson Cooper; and special friend, Don Gommer.

Ila's memory will be cherished by all who knew her — for her steady love, enduring faith, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
