Hilda was born June 22, 1918, to Richard and Emma Haeder northeast of Yale, South Dakota. She grew up at Yale and graduated from Yale High School.
On August 27, 1939, Hilda married George Ulrich at Wolsey. They lived in Avon, South Dakota for over 20 years, running Ulrich's Medicine Chest. Hilda enjoyed playing the organ at the Zion Lutheran Church. She attended Southern State University in Springfield, South Dakota when Ken and Bette were in high school and earned a teaching degree. Shortly after earning her degree, George and Hilda moved to Huron where Hilda taught third grade for over 20 years. After the death of her husband, George, Hilda moved to Trail Ridge in Sioux Falls where she had resided for the last 12 years.
Hilda was a vibrant, optimistic and upbeat lady who had a strong faith and was a dedicated, life-long follower of Jesus Christ. Her faith and her family were dearest to her. She had a fun-loving spirit and enjoyed playing pinochle, bridge, going shopping, taking bus trips, fishing and going out to eat. We loved watching her enjoy her coconut shrimp and peach bellinis.
