Long-time resident Hazelle Geneva Timperly Jones, age 100, of Huron, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the SunQuest Health Care Center. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 26th at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial was beside her husband, Woody at Riverside Cemetery. Hazelle was born September 2, 1917, in rural Beadle County to Guy and Louessa Timperly. She was the first of three children. She attended rural schools and graduated from Huron High School in 1935. She then attended secretarial/bookkeeping training and worked for several companies in Huron, including Bartholow's Paving Company
She married Woodrow F. "Woody" Jones of rural Huron on January 20, 1940.In 1949 she and Woody bought a farm south of Huron and farmed until Woody's death in 1993. Hazelle has continued to live and farm on that property until a few weeks before her 100th birthday. Hazelle was interested in genealogy and was able to trace her roots to the Mayflower and beyond to Queen Anne Bolin of England.
Hazelle has been a life member of the American Lutheran Church in Huron and was a part of the Ladies Guild there for years. She and Woody served at the Lutheran Dining Hall during the fair for many years as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Louessa; two sisters, Doris Timperly and Edith Timperly Dooley; and her husband, Woody F. Jones.
Survivors include one son, Craig (Rita) Jones of Huron; one daughter, Beverly, (Larry) Oliver of Corvallis, Oregon; and one granddaughter, CariAnn Oliver-Belanger, (Arthur) also of Corvallis. Other survivors include one step-granddaughter, Melissa (Mike) Maxwell; and three step-great grandchildren, Mariah, Morgan and Macy of Parkston.
