Harvey Bauer, age 77, of Huron, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His memorials service will be held at a later date in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Harvey Alton Bauer was born March 27, 1941, to John and Anna (Pleinis) Bauer at Roscoe, South Dakota. He attended school at Roscoe. Harvey joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. After his honorable discharge, Harvey moved back to South Dakota.
On July 3, 1975, he married Kathryn Currans at Mobridge, South Dakota. Their daughter was born a year later at Bowman, North Dakota. Harvey worked in a variety of positions, including an Army Recruiter at Worthington, Minnesota, for several years. During that time, the family moved to Wilmont, Minnesota. In 2006, Harvey moved to Huron, South Dakota, to be closer to his daughter.
Family was very important to Harvey. He enjoyed watching his grandson, Christopher grow up. He liked watching his great-nieces play sports.
Harvey also liked to go fishing, do woodworking, tinker on computers, and watch military and western movies.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn on July 25, 1992; and one nephew, Neal Bauer.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his daughter, Sherie and her husband, Chuck Englert of Huron; one grandson, Christopher Englert; his brother, Harold and his wife, Annie Bauer of Gettysburg; his sister, Lillian and her husband, Ray Herr of Jamestown, North Dakota; and his nieces and nephews and their families, Rebecca and Jeff Lamb, Roxanne and Kenny Ripley, Rod Herr and Jeff Herr.
