Harry Marone, age 88, of Huron and formerly of Wolsey, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Avantara – Huron.

As per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no service.

Harry was born on February 19, 1934, just south of Huron, South Dakota, to Wallace and Elizabeth (Seeman) Marone.

Harry married Janice Wiand on October 18, 1953, in Wolsey. Together they started their life in the Wolsey Huron area and welcomed their son, Kurt on May 14, 1954 and their daughter, Kay on May 27, 1955.

In 1956, the family moved to California where Harry worked for Southern Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1995. Harry and Janice then returned to South Dakota after his retirement and lived in the Wolsey area until 2019, when they moved to the Huron area.

Throughout his lifetime Harry enjoyed fishing, playing cards, farkle, riding dirt bikes and dune buggies, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Janice Marone; his children, Kurt (Lois Bohannan) Marone and Kay Sartain; his grandchildren, Dennis (Mandy) Marone, Destine (Claude) Raschke, Erica (Shane) Murphy, Eric (Melissa) Marone, Sandy and Shelby Marone; his great grandchildren, Zachary (Kendra) Reilly, Alexis (Bryan Harmdierks) Reilly, Kacie Reilly, Parker Murphy, Addison and Hayes Marone, and Lily, Oliver and Hannah Marone; his siblings, Nancy (Wayne) Legrand, Gene(Marybelle) Marone; and sisters-in-law; Margaret Marone and Barbara "Bobbi" Slovin.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Elizabeth Marone; and brother, Robert "Bob" Marone.
