Obituary

Harlow D. Larsen, age 90, of Huron and formerly of Wolsey, died Sunday, February 1, 2015, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was at 11 AM Friday, February 6th at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Andrew Crandall officiating. Masonic honors were presented at the church following the funeral service. Burial was in the Wolsey Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in Harlow's name.
Harlow D. Larsen was born on the family farm near Wolsey on August 19, 1924, to Lawrence and Jessie (Johnson) Larsen. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Wolsey High School.
Harlow and June Gordon were married in 1946. Following their marriage they farmed near Wolsey. They moved to Wolsey in 1968, he retired from farming in 1974, and they moved to Huron in 1994.
Harlow was formerly a member and Elder of the Wolsey Presbyterian Church and a representative for the Pfister Seed Corn Company. More recently, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Huron, the Huron Rotary Club, the Huron Masonic Lodge, Yelduz Shrine, James Valley Shrine Club, and the James Valley Fire Crew, Jesters, and Hi-Twelve International.
Harlow took pride in passing on the family farm tradition. He enjoyed his family and being with his friends. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to share.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ila, Enid, and Jean; one brother, Lawrence "Bud" Larsen; and one great-grandson, River Varland.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 68 years, June, of Huron; his children, Kenneth "Ken" and Jo Larsen of East Horsley, Surrey, England, Tony and Judi Larsen of Wolsey, Brenda and Jim Ruedebusch of Huron, Carla Varland and Mike Erk of Hot Springs, South Dakota, and Kurt and Melissa Larsen of Hot Springs, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild and one step-great-great-grandchild.
