Harland N. Haug, age 87, of Huron, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service was held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 14 at Bethesda Church. His service was live-streamed through the church's website.

Visitation was held from 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with his family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday evening.

Harland N. Haug went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 10, 2023. He was born in Collins Township, Clark County, South Dakota, on October 23, 1935, to Herman and Hildred (Thoreson) Haug. Harland was raised in Willow Lake, where he attended school graduating from Willow Lake High School.  After high school, he worked a few years in road construction, before returning to Willow Lake to begin his career farming.

Harland married Jacqueline Moulton on June 13, 1958. Together they lived and farmed in the Willow Lake area, where they raised their sons, Ted & Tony. In 2000, they retired to Huron, although Harland continued to farm part-time for another 10 years.  He also worked part-time for the Center for Independence for five years, during his "retirement".

Harland loved 9 things: Jesus Christ, his family, playing guitar, hunting geese, baseball, bowling, watching sports (especially the Twins and Vikings) and reading. He was a friend to everyone he met and he loved to talk sports or politics with anyone who would listen. He was best described by the ultimate Norwegian accolade "He was a hard worker".

Harland was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hildred Haug; his wife, Jacqueline(Moulton) Haug; and his sister, Helen (Robert) Lehr.

He is survived by two sons, Theodore "Ted" and Kaye (Karlsrud) Haug of Huron and Anthony "Tony" and Marcia (Rankin) Haug of Japan; and his grandchildren, Tasha Haug of Springfield, Virginia, Tiffany (Alex) Pecoraro of Nashville, Tennessee and Titus (Olivia) Haug of San Diego, California.
