As per his wishes, there will be no services.
Greg was born April 8, 1947, to Robert W. and Emaline (Walker) Dixon, at Gallipolis, Ohio. After high school, Greg joined the United States Marines serving in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, he served as a Police Officer in Columbus, Ohio, where he would meet his future wife.
On January 10, 1972, Greg married Deborah (Debbie) Fergason at Catlettsburg, Kentucky. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.
In 1976, Greg became an Air Traffic Control Flight Service Specialist with the FAA, beginning a career which would take his growing family on several moves throughout the United States. Finally settling his family - now of five - in Huron in 1988, Greg continued to work for the FAA until transitioning to Lockheed Martin in 2006. While working for Lockheed Martin, Greg moved to Prescott, Arizona, but continued to maintain a residence in Huron, to which he retired in 2017. Additionally, Greg worked as a proofreader for The Huron Daily Plainsman from 2019 to 2020.
Greg was an avid lover of instrumental and vocal music, both as a collector and a performer. He played the trombone in his high school marching band, earning a place in the Ohio All-State Band. Greg also had a lifelong passion for Barbershop Music. He was active in local chapters of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBQSA) in Ohio, Illinois and South Dakota, enthusiastically performing in numerous choruses and quartets over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert W. Dixon, Jr.; and one niece, Jennifer Lee Stacey.
