Glenn "Ole" D. Olson was born September 12, 1936, to Gehard and Mary (Madsen) Olson at Storla, South Dakota. He was baptized in the Storla Lutheran Church. He attended school in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School in 1954. After high school, Glenn lived in Huron and then Mitchell before moving back to the farm to take care of his father.
He worked with the South Dakota Department of Transportation for 38 years and served as a Senior Transportation Technician in the Materials Office until his retirement in 1996.
On September 10, 1969, Glenn married Loretta Hofer Jenson at Wolsey. They later divorced.
Glenn especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He loved frying walleye and making homemade ice cream when his family came out to the farm. He also enjoyed roller skating and riding bicycles with his grandchildren in his younger years and always looked forward to attending the state fair. He often talked about going to the park in Mitchell with his great-granddaughter when she was younger, where they shared Laffy Taffy and drank Bug Juice which she, of course, picked out for him. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and also loved talking with his great-grandchildren about their baseball and dance activities. He enjoyed it when his grandson, Wayne, and great-grandchildren came out to the farm and rode motorcycles and the 4-wheeler. In Glenn's last few years of life after he moved off the farm, he looked forward to visits and phone calls from family and friends. He especially enjoyed the daily phone calls with his granddaughter, Jennifer, and the many times she visited him each month when she brought in lunch and the treats he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ila Mae Neises; two sons, Randy Jenson and Earl Jenson; and two nieces, Diane and Gloria.
Survivors include his close friend, Loretta Olson of Huron; one son, Regg (Jodi) Jenson of Redfield; fourteen grandchildren, Maria, RJ, Kali, Jacob, Jennifer, Wayne, Lesley, Ashley, Sarah, William, Tara, Tiffany, Nathan and Shyanne; many great-grandchildren including Kori, Noah, Karli, Logan, Hayden, Joseph, Piper, Tori, Jaysie and Kaiden; and six nieces, Theresa, Janet, Valerie, Mary, Donna and Linda.
