Glenn H. Kuschel, age 82, of Sioux Falls, SD and formerly of Huron, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

His memorial service was held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 13, at the Kuhler Funeral Home, Huron. His service was live-streamed through our website.

A visitation was held from 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 12, at Kuhler Funeral Home, Huron, with his family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday evening.

Glenn was born May 23, 1940, to Walter and Gertrude (Hagel) Kuschel, at La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was raised in La Crosse, and graduated from La Crosse Central High School. After high school he joined the National Guard, going to training at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he was commissioned as Second Lieutenant.

He was employed at Machine Products in La Crosse. Around this time, he met Sharon Kateley. On February 17, 1962, Glenn and Sharon were married and shortly after they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. In Minneapolis, Glenn worked at Control Data, Honeywell and Litton Industries. After becoming employed by Innovative Industries, the family moved to Huron in 1979. In 1989, they moved to Brookings where he was employed by Larson Manufacturing becoming Vice President of Operations, until retiring in 2006. He continued to consult with various Larson affiliates for 10 years, before fully retiring.

Glenn was a Huron City Commissioner in the late 80's and a SD State Fair Board Commissioner. He enjoyed fundraising at the Larson Donut Booth in Brookings to support various charities.

In retirement, Glenn loved spending his time at Enemy Swim Lake. Glenn always enjoyed being with his family, fishing and being with his Hooligan friends. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada and NASCAR races with the Hooligans. You could always find Glenn planting a tree. Glenn loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Timothy Kuschel; two brothers Harold (Therese) Kuschel, Melvin (Karen) Kuschel; and one sister, Leoda (Daniel).

Grateful for having shared in his life are his loving wife, Sharon Kuschel, Sioux Falls; one daughter, Amy (Kevin) Van Diepen, Huron; one son, Michael (Michelle) Kuschel, Mt. Vernon, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Jeannie Kuschel of Flandreau; four grandchildren, Phillip (Jessica) Van Diepen, Keith Kuschel, Mitchell Kuschel and Caleb Kuschel; four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Lauren, Miranda and Tyler; one brother-in-law, Gary (Donna) Kateley, La Crosse, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
