Geraldine "Jerri" Wollman was born on December 2, 1936, in Huron, South Dakota, to E.F. and Ruth (Hofer) Wollman. She married Marion (Mike) Barnes on September 22, 1957.
Jerri attended college in Wessington Springs and was a long time resident of Huron, South Dakota, before moving to Washington State. She was a teacher in several rural schools in South Dakota which was an early passion of hers. She continued to teach as she moved with Mike around the United States as they were transferred with his career.
Her love for music brought joy and gladness to all those that heard. She was a choir director in many of the churches they attended as well as helping to start a mission church in Hahira, Georgia. She would sing each Christmas at the Seattle Opera House in the living Christmas tree presentation.
She loved to cook and collect recipes, and enjoyed entertaining and playing games with her friends and family.
Jerri's father and mother as well as three brothers, Darryl (Walley), Cordel (Butch) and Donald Doyle (who passed at birth) preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Mike; her two children, Michael Barnes of Spokane, Washington and Michelle (Alan) Barnes-Monaghan of St. Raymond, Quebec; two granddaughters; one grandson; one sister, Patricia (Redell) Canada of Des Moines, Iowa; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
