Gary Lee Rogers, 68, of Huron, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.

His memorial service was held at 10 AM, Friday, September 8, at Faith Alive Church in Huron. Interment will be held a later date. His service was live-streamed.

Visitation was held from 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 7, at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with his family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A prayer service was held at 6:30 PM Thursday, by Elisa Rodriguez.

Gary Lee Rogers was born August 31, 1955, in Huron to Jack and Beverly (Norquist) Rogers. Gary grew up in Huron and received his education in the Huron School system-graduating from Huron High School. He attended Huron College, the University of South Dakota, and the University of Iowa before returning to Huron to join his father in the insurance business. Gary worked in the insurance business for nearly 50 years.

On June 24, 1997, he married Becky Escobar in Huron and together they raised their children.

Gary was also a prominent member of the Huron Sertoma Club. He was the president and district governor for a number of years, and was especially proud of his fundraising project that resulted in the erecting of the plane near the airport on the northside of Huron. Outside of that, he loved everything about golfing, including traveling for tournaments. He met Tiger Woods when Tiger was sixteen and just starting his career in Ann Arbor, Michigan. But most importantly, he was a gentle, caring, and loving grandfather who devoted his love and care to his family.

He was preceded in death by his son, RJ Hein; his father, Jack Rogers; and many other family members.

Gary was survived by his wife of 26 years, Rebeca "Becky" (Escobar) Rogers of Huron; his mother, Beverly Rogers of Sun City, Arizona; his children, Aaron (Amelia) Rogers of Brookings, Ross Hein of Huron and Whitney (Moises) Garibay of Huron; his bonus daughter, Natasha (Fred) Baum of Huron; his grandchildren, Maiya and Aiden Hein, Tegan, Julian, Gabriel and Emma Lee Garibay and Declan Hein; his siblings, Craig Rogers of Huron and Julie (Dennis) Gienger, of Sun City, Arizona; his bonus sister, Cindy Wilk of Huron; as well as two nieces.
