Frederick "Rick" Passenheim, age 72, of Huron, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the VA Hospital Community Living Center in Sioux Falls.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no service.

Frederick was born February 5, 1951, to Ernie and Joyce (Serflaten) Passenheim, in Huron. He graduated from Huron High School in 1969, and attended auto engineering school in Denver, Colorado. Rick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1971, and spent two years in Okinawa, Japan.

On April 10, 1976, Rick married Debra Weichman, in Huron. To this union two children were born, Frederick Ryan and Kenneth David. After many years, the couple divorced.

Rick worked for Blondie's Floor Covering for many years, before starting his own floor covering business, until his retirement in 2022.

Rick was a loyal Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed many years in a dart league. He enjoyed his involvement in the Beadle County Sportsman Club and the many friends he made there.

Rick is survived by his two sons, Ricky (Tasha) Passenheim and their daughter, Marlee, all of Brookings, and Kenny Passenheim of Watertown; one brother, Steve (Jolene) Passenheim of Brookings; and two sisters, Susan (Robert) Cameron of Huron and Shirley (Tim) Carlson of Superior, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Joyce Passenheim; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Cameron and Tim Carlson.
