James "Fred" Haynes, age 81, of Huron, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society at De Smet.
His funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 25th at Kuhler Funeral Home. His service was live-streamed on the Kuhler Funeral Home website. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Beadle County Humane Society, Huron .
James "Fred" Frederick Haynes was born on October 14, 1939, to George and Ermina (Taylor) Haynes, at St. Joseph, Missouri. He grew up in St. Joseph attending Lindberg Elementary and Lafayette High School.
On August 14, 1959, Fred married Carolene (Golden) at Savannah, Missouri. They made their home at St. Joseph, until moving to Huron in 1972.
Fred worked in the packing house industry for 25 years. He then worked for Huron Drilling for 18 years. Fred finished his working years with the postal service for 3 years. He was a hard worker and very seldom complained.
Since childhood, Fred enjoyed hunting, beginning with small game like rabbits and quail, and then moving up to pheasants. He loved animals, especially dogs. Fred also enjoyed collecting guns and cars.
As a member of the Huron Church of the Open Bible, Fred served as a greeter. He enjoyed sharing candy and mints with the children attending church services.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ermina Haynes; and one brother, Lloyd Haynes.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Carolene Haynes of Huron; two children, Brenda (Rod) Snyder of Huron and Brian Haynes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three siblings, Bob (Judy) Haynes of St. Joseph Missouri, Connie Haynes of St. Joseph, Missouri and Mary Lou (Tom) Byrd of Springfield, Missouri; four grandsons and their families, Steven (Marybeth) Kleinsasser and Isaiah of Springfield, Missouri, Jonathan (Jasmin) Haynes and Phoenix of Atlanta, Georgia, James Haynes of Valdosta Georgia, and Barry (Marissa) Snyder and Kaylin, Diana and Genevieve of Huron, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
