Floyd Wipf, age 89, of Huron, died Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. His funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 17th at the Living Hope Alliance Church, with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Burial was in the Ideal Cemetery.
Floyd Wipf was born April 17, 1927, at Frankfort, South Dakota to Elias and Mary (Tschetter) Wipf. He lived around Huron most of his life, with the exception of living in Carthage, South Dakota for five years where he owned and operated a grocery store.
In 1946, Floyd served in the U.S. Air Force in South Pacific until he was honorably discharged in 1947.
On June 5, 1949, Floyd married Adena Pullman at Huron. Floyd was employed at the Chevrolet Garage and then by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as an electrician for 29 years.
He was a member of the Living Hope Alliance Church, formerly known as Huron Mission Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; ten brothers and sisters; and two sons, Kenneth and David Wipf.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife of 67 years, Adena Wipf of Huron; daughters, Ruby (Harley) Crandall and Lori Meyers, all of Huron; son, Elias (Cindy) Wipf of Watertown; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
