Florence J. Bockorny, age 92, Huron, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 9:30 AM, Saturday, September 2nd at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Huron. Interment followed in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Her service was live-streamed.

Visitation was held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 1st at the Kuhler Funeral Home, Huron. Family was present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A prayer service was held at 6:30 PM Friday evening at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Florence Jane Bockorny, daughter of Clarence and Frances (Feldhaus) Esser was born on June 21, 1931, in Canova, South Dakota. She grew up in the Howard, South Dakota area. In 1948, Florence graduated from St. Agatha High School in Howard. Following graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for a clothing store in Mitchell, South Dakota.
On November 23, 1950, Florence married LeRoy Bockorny at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. They made their home in Artesian, South Dakota, until 1952 when they moved to Huron, where they raised their three children.
From 1970 to 1973, Florence worked as a bookkeeper for Terrace Park Dairy. In 1973, Florence and LeRoy purchased the Bell Motel which they owned and operated until their retirement in 1996. At that time, they purchased their home at 1756 Idaho SE where Florence resided until moving to the Wellshire Senior Living apartments in 2018. She loved to have coffee with friends and filled her time with card playing, bingo, visiting with friends and reading books.
Florence was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family, always thankful for being given time to see her children and grandchildren grow up and accomplish their dreams. The next generation of great-grandchildren brought great joy to her life.
Florence is survived by her three children, Cindy (Ed) Klein of Rockford, Illinois, Larry (Peggy) Bockorny of Huron and Jerry (Janet) Bockorny of Huron; six grandchildren, Michael (Kristi) Bockorny of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Rebecca (Kirk) Eckhardt of Lincoln, Nebraska, Monica (Shane) Muse of Rockford, Illinois, Lisa (Justin) Bock of Rockford, Illinois, Abby (Brady) Johnson of Huron and Todd (Cassie) Bockorny of Rapid City, South Dakota; twelve great-grandchildren, Matt (Aubrey) Bockorny of St. Paul, Minnesota, Connor and Emily Bockorny of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Cassidy, Carson and Carter Eckhardt of Lincoln, Nebraska, Benton, Briella, and Beaumont Bock of Rockford, Illinois, Emma and Shawn Johnson of Huron and Reid Bockorny of Rapid City, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her parents; her step-father, Beryl Tracy; three sisters, Vivian Jones, Evelyn Pasket and Grace Durst; one brother, Martin Esser; five brothers-in-law, Elwyn Jones, Lyle Pasket, Harry Durst, William and Harry Bockorny; and four sisters-in-law, Jeanne Esser, Janice (Bockorny) Haas, Eileen Bockorny and Jan Bockorny.
