Evonne Minske, age 90, of Huron, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Avantara – Huron.

Her memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 1, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Burial will follow in the St. Martin’s Cemetery. Her service will be live-streamed.

Visitation with family present will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Evonne Marie Timperley was born May 28, 1936, to Harold and Marjorie (Woodle) Timperley, at Huron. She grew up in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1954.

On December 30, 1954, Evonne married Eldon Minske, at Huron. After Eldon’s tour was completed with the United States Airforce, they made their home in Huron and raised their two sons, Douglas and Kevin.

Evonne worked at Art Avery Accounting, Wallenburg & Gage Accounting and Harrington & Hein Accounting. Later she worked for the Center for Independence until her retirement in May 2004.

Her faith was very important to Evonne, and was a life-long member of the Catholic churches in Huron.

After retiring, Evonne spent most of her free time researching genealogy for both the Minske and Timperley families. She often helped others find obscure information and became the “go to “expert for others. She and Eldon spent many days visiting various cemeteries in South Dakota and Minnesota, looking for any tidbit of information on a tombstone. The couple spent their younger years with a group of friends in the local Prairie ramblers motorcycle club. They enjoyed many trips on their Goldwing. They also belonged to several card club groups. Evonne loved a good card game, especially if it was 10-point Pitch. They also loved to travel going many places which included their favorite cruise to Alaska.

Evonne had a special love for her only granddaughter, Marissa and her only great-grandson, Oliver. She had so many dear lifetime friends and always had sweets just in case they stopped by for coffee. She will be greatly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon in 2010; her sons, Douglas and Kevin and her daughter-in-law, Jody, all in 2021.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her brother, Ron (Barbara) Timperley of Rapid City; her daughter-in-law, Jill Minske of Huron; her granddaughter, Marissa Minske of Huron; her great-grandson, Oliver Rensland of Sioux Falls; her fur-baby, Cooper; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Minske of Huron and Mona Jean (Jerome) Kleinsasser of Hitchcock and several nieces and nephews.
