Evelyn Louise Lichty, age 89, of Huron and formerly of Wessington, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Avantara – Huron.

Her memorial service was held at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 27th at the Kuhler Funeral Home. A private family burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery at Wessington.  Her service will be live-streamed through our website. 

Visitation with family present was held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Monday, June 27th at the funeral home.

Evelyn Louise was born January 6, 1933, to Louis and Vella (Kinsey) Hemmingson at the family home near Miller.

On September 12, 1951, Evelyn married Paul Lichty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one granddaughter, Angela Lichty; and three sisters, Gladys Speirs, Dorothy Ward and Arlys Hagen.

Evelyn is survived by her 11 children, Susan (Raymond) Kontz, Thomas (Faye) Lichty, Dale (Tammy) Lichty, Robert (Sherry) Lichty, Bruce (Melodie) Lichty, Peggy Lichty (Alfred Ikenson), Paula (Dan) Hill, George (Jill) Lichty, Neil Lichty (Stephanie Lindemann), Kay (Kelly) Daugherty and Brian (Gail) Lichty; 25 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by one sister, Joan (Wayne) Horsley; and many nieces and nephews.
