Eugene "Gene" Kornock, age 78, of Huron, died Monday, October 3, 2016, at the Human Services Center at Yankton. His funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 11th, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council.
Eugene Lorenz Kornock was born March 7, 1938, to Edgar and Louise (Bolt) Kornock at Venus, Nebraska. In 1955, Gene graduated from high school at Brighton, Colorado.
On October 18, 1955, Gene entered the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged on October 17, 1959.
Gene then worked for the Federal Aviation Administration at Los Angeles, California, Denver, Colorado, and in 1973 moved to Huron. Gene retired from being an air traffic control operator in 1987. After retirement, Gene worked for the Beadle County Conservation District for three years.
On January 26, 1964, Gene married Phyllis Helmricks at Fort Collins, Colorado. They enjoyed traveling together.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Verlin, Kenneth and Dewayne.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Phyllis of Huron; two daughters, Linda Kornock of Huron, and Melinda Prindle of Woodland, California; one grandson, Colin Prindle; one brother, Martin (Neline) Kornock of Brighton, Colorado; and one sister, Sharon Burlinda of Niwot, Colorado.
