Erwin J. Wipf, age 102, of Doland, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Avantara of Clark.
His funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 20th at the Prairie Bible Church, rural Carpenter. Burial was in the Ebenezer Church Cemetery.
Erwin J Wipf was born on July 5, 1917, to Zack Z. and Rachel Wipf in Cornwall Township. He continued to live in Spink County for the next 100 years. In 2018 he moved to Wookey's Assisted Living in Clark and in 2019 to Avantara Clark.
He attended Blue Belle School in Antelope Township until he graduated from the 8th grade. He farmed south of Frankfort and worked for Farmer's Union Oil Company (Now Cenex) in Doland. He also did maintenance work at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield.
Erwin was baptized upon profession of faith in 1939, as a young man at Hutterthal Church (now Prairie Bible Church). On December 3, 1943, he married Marian Wurz. They attended Ebenezer Church. Erwin enjoyed reading scripture and listening to gospel music.
Marian preceded him in death in 1977. He was also preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Edward.
Erwin is survived by his daughter, Sandra and her husband, Cliff Vitters of Milbank; two grandsons, Darwin Vitters of Sioux Falls and Dan Vitters of Aberdeen; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brooke and Hunter; a great-great granddaughter, Audrey; sister-in-law, Bonita Wurz of Redfield; a niece, MaryJo and her husband, Skip Williams of Frankfort; and a nephew, Lon and his wife, Denise Wurz of Arizona.
