Ednamae Hofer, age 97, of Huron, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 11th at Huron Christian Church. Her service was live-streamed. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Ednamae was born October 7, 1923, to Michael J. and Rebecca (Gross) Gross at Huron. She graduated from Huron High School, worked at Standard Oil. Ednamae then worked as a district manager for World Book Encyclopedia. She later obtained her realtors license.
In 1943, Ednamae married Andy A. Hofer. They made their home together in the Yale and Huron areas. They completed their family with the addition of daughter, Barbara Ann.
She enjoyed baking, reading her bible, furthering her knowledge in many areas and spending time with her family. She loved all animals, especially dogs. She was a collector of antiquities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on May 13, 1988; two brothers, Johnnie Gross and one in infancy; and her three sisters, Justina Wipf, Alice Tschetter and Marilyn Glanzer.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her daughter, Barbara Ann (Wayne) Walton of Huron; four grandchildren, Tarah (Chad Winkel) Walton of Sioux Falls, Aaron (Jessica) Walton of Valley Springs, Wyatt (Crystal) Walton of Sioux Falls and Kermittee Tchida of Sioux Falls; eight great-grandchildren, Destrie (Rachel) Johnson, Dalana-Jo Winkel, Dax Johnson, Payton Winkel, Morgan Johnson, Cole Walton, Andrew Walton and Fox Tchida; and many nieces and nephews.
