Doris Caroline Pearl, age of 95 years and 355 days, of Huron, passed away Saturday,July 21, 2018, while residing at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her graveside service was held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 25th at Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Huron.
She was born to Frederick and Anna (Fangmeier) Willmann in Thayer County in southeast Nebraska, on July 31, 1922. After "moving to town" as a child, she attended elementary school and graduated from Hubbell (NE) High School, Class of 1939. She married Ralph C. Pearl on June 24, 1942, to which union two daughters were born: Carolyn Beth and Phyllis Marie.
Doris was a dedicated homemaker and mother. Shelves were filled with home canned produce and the freezer with apple pies and other goodies. She was a talented seamstress--sewing clothes for her daughters and herself, and an avid needle worker in embroidery, crewel and crochet. She supported her daughters in all their effortsschool music events, Girl Scouts, and church activities. Beth remembers clearly the giggles when they both missed curfew during a college Mother-Daughter Weekend. And Phyllis fondly recalls "Mom" making cat-shaped pancakes for her breakfasts.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, and by her husband of 56 years, Ralph Pearl.
She is survived by her daughters: Carolyn Beth (Peter) Mazzella and Phyllis Marie (David Erk) Pearl-Erk.
