Donald "Don" Kasperson, age 79, of Huron, died Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. His funeral service was at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 4th, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Holland, officiating. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Donald Edward Kasperson was born December 11, 1935, to Chris and Leona (Brinkley) Kasperson, at Huron. He graduated from Huron High School in 1956. He worked with his dad, Chris, in the family business of Kasperson Oil.
On August 11, 1956, Don married Mary Jane Van Ekeren. They owned and operated Kasperson Oil Company until he was placed in the nursing home in the spring of 2011.
Don grew up around motors and had a love for cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He was a life time member of American Motorcycle Association and past member of the Prairie Rambler Motorcycle Club. He was a member and past president of the Huron Lion Eye Openers. Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was also a past board member of the South Dakota Petroleum Marketers Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dean Kasperson; and one brother-in-law, Roger Burnett.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Mary of Huron; one sister, Mary Margaret Burnett of Huron; one sister-in-law, Delores Kasperson of Huron; three children, Debbie (Rex) Lennie of Huron, Gary Kasperson of Huron, and Michelle (Kenneth) Bevis of Jackson, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Korey Flolo, Nichole Briley, Ashley (Jeremy) Jungemann, Alex (Megan) Kasperson, Austin Kasperson, Tysa Buckholtz, Bree Buckholtz, Brock Bevis; and five great grandchildren, Alondra Rodriguez, Cody Lilyquist, Chloe Flolo, Cayden Flolo, and Emersyn Jungemann.
