Obituary

Donald P. Tschetter "Jake", age 80, of Huron, passed away at Avantara Huron on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 27 at Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. His service will be live-streamed.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Donald was born to John S. Tschetter Sr. and Elizabeth Hofer Tschetter on October 15, 1945.

Jake worked for Olson Implement for 30+ years working on farm machinery he could fix almost anything earning him the name of “Mr. Fix It”.

He also enjoyed helping friends and family like JD Kleinsasser shearing sheep and baling hay.

Jake’s favorite time spent was having coffee and eating his favorite meal of chicken at the Plains. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping also playing cards, dominoes and rummy royal. His collection of caps was extensive always wearing a different one every day but his favorite was “I'm spending my kids' inheritance”.

Jake married Mae Irene McKinney on July 1, 1994, and became instant dad to three daughters, Wendy Ravenscroft, Nikki Sundstrom and Darlena Fischer, whom he loved with his whole heart.

Grateful for sharing his life are his kids, Wendy (Todd) Ravenscroft, Nikki Sundstrom Patrick Fischer; seven grandkids, Ryan (Ashlynne) Ravenscroft, Caitlyn Fischer (Cory), Stephanie Sundstrom (Chandler), James Fischer (Macy) Tiffanie Sundstrom, Nathaniel Fischer and Sheldon Sundstrom; one sister, Rosie (Ed) Johnson of Lennox; one sister-in-law, Mary Kay Tschetter of Huron; Mae’s siblings and their families; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mae I. Tschetter; one daughter, Darlena J. Fischer; one granddaughter; Amanda Ravenscroft; two sisters, Elsie Bradley and Viola Burnham; and five brothers, John, Dick, Irvin, Alvin and Robert Tschetter.

For a Quiet Man here are a few of his favorite sayings “Makes no shit a difference to me”, “All Joking Aside”, “I mean what do you do?”, "YES DEAR" and “GOOD NIGHT!”
