Delphine Decker, age 84, of Yale, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Ava's House at Sioux Falls.

Her funeral service for family was held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 28th, and burial was in the Ideal Cemetery.

Delphine Hofer was born December 30, 1935, to Ernest A. and Anna (Mandel) Hofer. They lived south of Doland for about ten years. In the early 1940's her family moved to Yale where she continued her education.

Delphine was married on July 2,1954, to Clarence Decker at Huron. Clarence was serving in the United States Army and they were stationed in Virginia, where Carla was born. Clarence was honorably discharged on April 1956, and the family then returned to South Dakota and started farming.

In 1982, Delphine started working at Huron Regional Hospital housekeeping, and then later working at K-Mart. One of her favorite jobs was the many years she spent working at the gate admission booth at the South Dakota State Fair.

Delphine was very active in various committees at the Mount Olivet Church. She was chairperson of the food committee and the nursery. She loved being outside, gardening and camping. She enjoyed planting at the greenhouse. She especially loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clarence, on April 4, 1999.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Carla and Ron Pierson of Yale, Carvel Decker of Yale, Carleen and Bill Timm of Yale and Kip and Debbie Decker of Tea; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Decker of Yale; her fourteen grandchildren and their families, Shawn (Jennifer) Mendel and their children, Haley (fiancé, Lane Smit) and Haden, Ernest Mendel and his children, Ethan, Elijah and Emerson, Clare (Brittney) Mendel and their children, Braxtyn, Breelyn, Pieper and Braedyn, Christina (Mike) Guthrie and their children, Alissa, Mason and Alexandria, and their dad, Tom Mendel, Tyler Pierson, Jeremy Groenewold and his children, Jaycee, Ithica, Haven, Christopher, Logan and Montana, Joshua Groenewold, Chase Decker, Lexy Timm, Megan Timm and her son, Jase, Chelsey Timm, Rayson Timm, Adam (Natalya) Tuschen and their children, Ellie Mae and Case, and Elizabeth (Ben) Klusmann and their son, Reid; sister-in-law, Clara (LaVerne) Decker; brother-in-law, Elbert Wipf; and the brother she never had, Eddie Hohm.
