Delma Mattke, age 83, of Huron, died Friday, September 25, 2015, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 10 AM, Tuesday, September 29th, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Holland, officiating. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Delma Dean Newland was born January 30, 1932, to Albert and Helen (Bonnichsen) Newland at Highmore, South Dakota.She attended school in Highmore until the fifth grade when the family moved to Huron.She finished her schooling at Huron.
On January 20, 1949, Delma married her sweetheart, Delvin Mattke at the Assembly of God Church in Huron.They were together for sixty years.
Delma helped Delvin on the farm in their early years.She also worked several years for Raven Industries and Wilbrecht Electronics.After retirement, Delma and Delvin joined the Rovers Camping Club and enjoyed camping from 1999 to 2007.Delma also liked to dance, play cards, and spend time with family and friends.
Delma was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Delvin, on February 25, 2009; one brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Joyce Newland; one brother-in-law, Glen Iverson; and her parents-in-law.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her son, Bob and his wife, Jean Mattke of Huron; her daughter, Carolin and her husband, Bob Schinderling of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren, Nicole and her husband, Eric Held of Logan, Utah, Stacy and her husband, Matt Meyer of Lester Prairie, Minnesota, Troy and his wife, Amy Mattke of Huron, and Jon Kotas of Derby, Kansas; one step granddaughter, Angela Schinderling of Lyman, Wyoming; twelve great- grandchildren, Greta, Ericson, Gavin, Collette and Julia Held, Connor, Logan and Grady Meyer, Benjamin, Alex and Will Mattke and Kohen Kotas; three step great-grandchildren, Tyler Schinderling, Kayla Henson and Jacob Russell; and one sister, Betty Iverson of De Smet.
