Obituary

Debbie Hofer, age 50, of Huron, died Monday, February 8, 2016, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 13th at Bethesda Church. Burial was in the Bethesda Church Section of the Ideal Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Byron Bible Camp and Child Evangelism Fellowship.
Debbie was born on March 5, 1965, in Fairmont, Minnesota, to DeVere and Delaine Williams. She graduated from Williston, North Dakota High School in 1983 and Huron University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education in 1989. She taught in Lebanon for a year, where she was involved in a car accident in 1986, leaving her on crutches. That is what brought her to Huron, where she met Don. Debbie married Don Hofer on July 25, 1987, at Bethesda Church and were happily married for twenty-eight years. Don and Debbie were in full time missions in Germany and Kenya in 1989 and 1990. Her dream was to go on a family mission trip, and she was able to go on two, one to Zambia and the other to Japan. Her love for the Lord was so evident in the way she lived. She loved being a wife as well as a mom. She also enjoyed biking, walking, camping, games, laughing, talking over a coffee, being hospitable, and spending time with family and friends. She coached the James Valley Christian School cheerleading squad for three years. She was the 5th and 6th grade Sunday school teacher at Bethesda Church and co-Splash leader on Wednesday nights with her husband Don.
Debbie is survived by her husband Don; three children, Rebekah (Max) Kemink of Sioux Falls, Joshua of Sendai, Japan, and Jessica of Huron; one sister, Diane (Nick) Foltmer of Drake, Colorado; two brothers, David (Jen) Williams of Moscow, Idaho, and Dan Williams (Kyle Cox) of Bozeman, Montana; niece, Darin (Rod) Koehler of Denver, Colorado; nephews, Chris (Jennifer) Crane of Lake Worth, Florida and Elijah (Beth) Williams of Omaha, Nebraska; her mother-in-law, Ruth Hofer of Huron; her aunt, Alyce Howard of Huron; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry Kleinsasser, Sandy (Larry) Mack, Sharon Reno, and Arnie Hofer, all of Huron, Bob (Priscilla) Hofer of Pierre, and Lonny (Linda) Hofer of Rapid City; several nieces and nephews; and her church family.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; her three sisters-in-law, Diane (Timm) Williams, Gale (Gundersen) Williams, and Diane (Hofer) Kleinsasser; one brother-in-law, Bob Reno; and her father-in-law, Eli M. Hofer.
